What our Critics say:
THE THING (1982) – “Man is the warmest place to hide.” From the legendary master of Horror, ‘John Carpenter’s the Thing’ is regarded as one of the greatest horror films of all time. When released it was the opposite to another famous E.T alien that ruled the cinemas but over the years it has become one of the most celebrated descentsinto Horror. Based on John W. Campbell Jr. novella Who Goes There?, it tells the terrifying tale of a group of researchers in Antarctica who discover an alien looking body buried deep in the ice.
Bringing it back to their base they unwittingly release a shapeshifting Alien terror amongst them. Gripped with paranoia they soon start to realise they can trust NOONE.
Featuring Rob Bottin’s jaw dropping Special effects, Music from John Carpenter and Ennio Morricone and the coolest Helicopter pilot played by Kurt Russell in sunglasses and a ‘sombrero’.
Come and enjoy this masterpiece in all its cinematic glory and be afraid…..be very afraid.
Filmy fact – Quentin Tarantino used Ennio Morricone’s music from ‘The Thing’ in his equally paranoid western ‘The Hateful Eight’.
