Delivered nationally across the UK, the Playhouse Project is a unique participatory national theatre project that connects schools with professional theatres, script writers and theatre makers, so they may be inspired and empowered to experience the benefits of professional theatre making.

Enriching CPD days connect teachers with other teachers and develop rehearsal and directing techniques, to enable teachers to feel empowered to bring drama back to their classroom and create high quality performances with their classes.

Fun and exciting workshops with children in their schools introduce pupils to creative play and drama techniques in advance of visiting the theatre, often for the first time. Children learn how a theatre runs, the purpose of different departments and the experience of life backstage ahead of a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform on stage in front of a public audience.

Specially commissioned professional playwrights work collaboratively with theatres and schools, to develop scripts that are relevant and topical to young people today. The Playhouse Project boasts an unrivalled library of professional scripts that are appropriate for large classes of KS2 children that facilitate heartfelt, authentic conversations about big issues in the world today as they start to explore their characters.
